Tourism continues in its post-pandemic recovery phase

Wakalua Innovation Hub was present together with 16 Ministers of Tourism and delegations from 36 countries at the last meeting of the UNWTO Executive Council, held in Marrakech (Morocco) last November.

Our director Leticia Lauffer had several bilateral meetings with different countries where Wakalua Innovation Hub is opening branches and projects related to innovation applied to tourism to make the sector more responsible, inclusive and sustainable.

The recovery of the tourism sector continues to make progress

According to UNWTO data released this week, international arrivals are on track to reach 65% of pre-pandemic levels by the end of the year.

Within the framework of the 117th Session of the Executive Council, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili re-emphasised the importance of transforming the tourism sector and “accelerating the building of a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable sector” and that the real success of tourism lies in the impact our sector has on “the lives, livelihoods and well-being of people and the planet”.

The next Session of the Executive Council will be held in the Dominican Republic.

Our #policy debate took place in Marrakesh 🇲🇦 within the #UNWTOEC, reinforcing the commitment of #tourism stakeholders to promoting #talent and #upskilling, and directly supporting #SMEs digitalization.
